The Urge to Purge

It's amazing to see the amount of stuff you will throw out and donate and recycle when it comes down to moving day. We are moving into the house this weekend and it is hectic already. We've had the keys for a week, but just a small bit of our stuff has traveled over there. Most of the books have gone, which is a sizeable chunk. I'm just worried about the records. When the heck will R pack those babies up and move them. He insists on moving them himself! Like, not letting the movers help him! Argh.

When we get to the new house, I would be highly interested in home insurance, especially to secure those precious (and plentiful) records and music equipment. I guess we need to ensure the laptop and ... um, my yarn? Luckily, our dogs have been great guard dogs.

By Sunday night, I'll be thinking we should have bought van insurance I read about BudgetInsurance.com. R will be so tired from moving, he definitely will not return the U-haul on time or in perfect condition. Budget even offers bike insurance. I presume they're talking about motorcycles, not 10-speeds. R could use "bicycle" insurance, though, since his bike frame broke and the manufacturer refuses to replace it.

How is the insurance industry doing, anyway? Are they taking a hit from the recent economic crisis? Are they being bailed out too? When they start talking about insurance and the big banks, I start getting confused and understand way less. More information to purge from my exhausted brain.

Don't forget to keep a list of what you donate - and get a receipt! Its a tax write-off!
