The Party Post

Baba had his 1 year birthday party yesterday. It was a lot of fun and nearly exactly what I had imagined. Despite a lot of anxiety, the hard work and effort paid off, I think. I really could not have done it without the help of my MIL, and even some party guests that helped with the finishing touches. I was worried about how many people would show up and running out of food, but everything worked out just fine. Baba had a great time, interacting with his playdate "girlfriend," the older kids, and being ooh'ed and aah'ed over by every adult. He didn't even mind wearing his fancy little Korean prince outfit! It just melted my heart.

Overnight, Baba's toy collection doubled. With a few gift cards, we should not have any trouble getting the necessary baby things and odds and ends to fill Baba's room. I've never felt that gift cards are impersonal. In fact, the gift cards we got when we were expecting Ishmael helped us get a lot of necessities, while we waited for my disability checks. Nowadays you can really customize the gift cards with your own uploaded photos or buying cards connected with a specific charity.


R and I got home last night, and after Baba went to sleep, we realized we were starving and didn't bring home any leftovers besides the cake and two jars of kimchi. We both were craving the Korean food that was at the party and wished we had some of that. Note to self: always order extra Korean food to take home with you.

I wonder if Oprah likes kimchi. She needs to put it on her list of favorite things. It's certainly on mine, right after babies and birthday cake.
